Oscar - 2017 - Sintillate Round Up

Last night the 89th Academy Awards ceremony was held, presented by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Jimmy Kimmel opened up the show as the host for the night. He started off with remarks about Trump and possibly every controversial topic you could fit into five minutes. The night brought glam, humour and that tiny detail of the wrong award. The wrong award was announced for the best picture...

Best Controversy goes to the Oscars!

They are calling it the worst flub in Oscar History. We are calling it the biggest cringe-worthy moment an award ceremony could ever have. (Yes, it even trump's Steve Harvey's mishap of Miss Universe.) The biggest moment of the night, the biggest accolade. Yet confusion and dismay for the 'La La Land' crew & cast. Let's not forget the confusion to the millions watching live.

It has become the biggest embarrassing and most awkward mistake in the history of the Academy Awards. Played out before an audience of millions watching on Live stream, TV and a theatre full of stars standing, stunned with mouths agape.

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway looked lost. When he opened the envelope, he paused... he looked over to Dunaway still puzzled. She took the envelope, read it, paused, and said, "La La Land."

The cast walked up the stage as normal and no one could even imagine what would happen next.

A chaotic scene unfolded right upon us on stage as the La La Land crew had already started their acceptance speeches. You could see stage staff and co-ordinators rushing around the back of the crew as confusion broke out among the hosts.

After receiving a blazing roar from the crowd, Jordan Horowitz, the producer of La La Land, took hold of the stage and announced the real winner! "Sorry, guys, hold on. There's a mistake. Moonlight, you guys won Best Picture. This is not a joke." He held up the card and the camera came in close: It said Moonlight and its producers' name. After confirming Moonlight was the rightful best-picture winner, the Oscars crowd erupted into cheers.

Beatty explained that when he opened the envelope it said, “Emma Stone, La La Land. That is why I took such a long look at Faye, and at you, I wasn’t trying to be funny". Apparently, there seemed to be a mix-up of the envelopes.

Host Jimmy Kimmel was totally lost but tried to take the attention away by making a joke. "Warren, what did you do?!" - Jimmy screamed in an uplifting comical way. I don't think no one will ever know how the mix up happened, but people will remember these Oscar Awards for years.
