Stop What You’re Doing – We Think We’ve Found The Best Fried Chicken In London!

We know what you’re thinking, that’s a big claim to be making, but after tucking into an almighty fried chicken feast (all in the name of research), we are certain this place can’t be beaten. For those of you who like your poultry southern fried, look no further than Joe's Southern Kitchen and Bar. Forget KFC, if it's real American-style dining you're after, we’ve found the perfect place for you!

Situated in Covent Garden and Kentish Town, Joe’s is all about ‘Deep South cooking and Southern hospitality’ and believe us, this is the deep south at its finest, rolling out all of the American chicken classics; buns, grilled, fried, and all manner of boneless thighs and buffalo wings - you name it, there’s a chicken done exactly how you want it.

Serving up soulful food from the states of Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama, each of Joe’s birds are brined in sweet tea for 24 hours, giving them a sugary background note with chicken that promises to be moist and flavoursome.

Each bird is lovingly coated in Joe’s secret flour recipe before being pressure fried. Under pressure, less steam is generated so more moisture remains in the chicken being fried resulting in a very hot and juicy bird with a deliciously crispy skin.

To put pucker in your pout and cut through the grease, each bird is finished with Joe’s homemade lemon dust, a snappy blend of lemon, lime and grapefruit, blended with sugar and rock salt.

Moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, their signature recipe, Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken with Lemon Salt proves to be a favourite for London’s fried chicken lovers, and it’s no wonder why! We recommend trying the Tabasco Honey bird Joe’s classic Southern Fried bird tossed in home spiked honey or the Nashville Hot bird, if your taste buds prefer something a little more hot and spicy! They even deliver as well as also doing Sunday roasts, and are celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with special menus.

All this talk of fried chicken has made us hungry; we know where we're off to lunch!
